ABOUT US

Marilu Horry is a journal for travel and hotels. Honest guides for the curious traveler, written by working travel editors, not salesmen. We book, pay for, and stay in what we review, then publish the rate we paid and the parts of the trip that did not work.

Who we are

We are a small crew of travel editors, hotel reviewers, and route planners who got tired of press releases pretending to be advice. Marilu Horry started as a shared notebook of heritage visits, rural stays and long lunches, passed between friends who kept asking the same question: where should I stay, really?

Our mission

Every week we publish free guides on heritage sites, wellness retreats, countryside stays, travel planning and food escapes. You get real 2026 rates, honest coverage of fees and conditions, and recommendations you can act on this afternoon, with no affiliate spin choosing the winner.

Editorial standards

No sponsored picks, no pay-to-rank lists. We buy at retail what we test, disclose any relationship before it matters, and correct mistakes in public within 48 hours. Numbers come from our own bookings and published transport and weather records, never from a brand's marketing deck. If a hotel, retreat, or site fails in real use, we say so.

The team

Marilu Horry runs the desk as founder and editor. Reporting comes from contributing hotel reviewers, heritage researchers and food writers who file their own expenses, and every guide is checked by a second editor before it ships. None of us take payment from the properties we cover.

Talk to us

Corrections, pitches, and reader questions are welcome through our contact page. We reply within one business day, and we read every note. If we got something wrong, tell us and we will fix it where everyone can see the change.
